PEMCO Director of Continuous Improvement Ben Macre and CEO Pastor Lopez discuss the company’s Lean journey in the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
On a recent morning at PEMCO World Air Services’ T2 hangar near Tampa International Airport, Ben Macre explained the process the aircraft maintenance and conversion company used to dramatically improve its on-time delivery when it came to repairing and overhauling planes.
Macre shared: “We’re making the mechanics more efficient at the aircraft.”
Lopez shared: “We kicked off the LEAN program in early 2015 and the on-time performance improved to 86 percent.” … “As we rolled into 2016 with two new contracts, we put more emphasis on the LEAN content of our strategy. This allowed us to reach a 93 percent on-time performance in 2016.”
